News Flash - FEB 2017

At the recent AGM held in the Community Center Lairg a discussion took place regarding the permitted engine size allowed to be used during competitions, It was unanimously agreed to increase the engine size from 4Hp to a maximum 6Hp this will take effect from the 13th May.

AGM and Committee Meeting

24-02-2017 Minutes

At the community centre Lairg the AGM of Lairg Angling Club was held on the 24th February 2017 at 7.00pm.

Those in attendance were – David Ross Chairman, Iain Mackay, J. McQueen Treasurer, R. McQueen, B. Thomson, B. Criton, C. MacNeil, P. MacNeil, B. Martin, S. Sutherland, G. Morgan, P. Wemyss, J. Mackenzie, D. Cox, Ron Boothroyd,

Apologies were received from – Mrs Parrot, D. Macdonald, D. Cahill, Dougie Macdonald, Graham Macdonald, H. Chisholm, J. Wilson.

D. Ross welcomed all and thanked them for coming to the meeting, the minute of the last AGM were read and proposed as correct by J. Mackenzie and seconded by C. MacNeil.

D. Ross then declared all offices vacant and asked for nominations for the Chairman Position.              P. MacNeil proposed that D. Ross should remain in place if he was happy to do so and this was seconded by C. MacNeil. D. Ross accepted.

Treasurer - J. McQueen was asked if she would remain, she accepted, this was proposed by D. Ross and seconded by I. Mackay.

Secretary – I. Mackay was asked if he would take up this position he accepted this was proposed by D. Ross and seconded by D. Cox.

The remaining committee members consist of – C. MacNeil, P. MacNeil, R. McQueen, Mackenzie, P. Wemyss, I. Cameron, R. Boothroyd, D. Macdonald, G. Macdonald, S. Alison, S. Sutherland, Donald Macdonald, J. Mackenzie, B. Martin.

Treasurers Report – J. McQueen reported that for the first time the membership now stands at 120 which is absolutely fantastic, it was a very busy year all in all and the balance figures reflect this.

D. Ross thanked everyone who took office and wished them all the best for the coming year. The AGM Meeting was closed at 19.20hrs.


General Committee Meeting

1.Loch Craggie – D. Ross announced that the Lairg Angling Club will have the rental of 2 boats on Craggie this year with the 3rd boat being rented by a private consortium which will not be for hire. The rental fee to the club for the boats on Craggie is £700/Annum. The Club boat will be used by members only with the 2nd boat being rented out to non-members at a higher rate. The Fees will be –

Club members boat - £25/Day £10/Evening Session 6-10pm

Non-Members boat - £50/Day all day no split.

2.It was agreed to possibly purchase a boat from S. Walker to put on Craggie (Cost Dependant) or maybe purchase all boats form S. Walker.

3.The club now have access to a boat on loch Dola on a pay as you use deal only so there is no outline cost to the club

The Fees for loch Dola –

£15/day all day for Members

£25/Day all day for Non-Members there will be no split evening session on this loch.

4.Loch Beanach Fees will be –

£10/Day members and £10 evening session for members

£20/Day all day for non members

5.It was agreed to again leave the club fees as is these are

£30/Adult

£20/ OAP

£5/ Junior

Boat and Engine Hire £10/Boat, £25/Engine Members

Boat and Engine Hire £25/Boat, £25/Engine Non-Member

Bank Fishing £5

7.The Floats that were at the clubhouse have been sold to Migdale Smolts for the sum of £500, they have also agreed to put a mooring in at the top of the loch, once it has been cleared with the new owners of Mrs Paynes house that they will give the club access to use the track through their land to the loch. If not an alternative site will be sourced.

8.Away day competition – D. Ross to speak to Sooty regarding fishing in Blairgowrie.

9.Boat Engines – It was agreed to sell of the Tohatsu x 2 engines as they are not suitable for the Loch conditions. It was also agreed to sell of the short shaft engines as they no longer get used an estimated price for selling is around £200 agreed by all

10.Engine HP – After a discussion it was agreed to up the HP of engines used in all competitions from 4Hp to 6Hp as most people have their own engine this will take the pressure of the club engines getting used all the time therefore prolonging the life time of the engine.

11.Iain Mackay stated that he now had full access to the Web Site and Facebook, he will start to put information on straight away.


Once again D. Ross thanked all for their input into the meeting and wished them a safe journey home.

There being no other business to discuss the General Committee Meeting was closed at 20.30hrs
